After becoming the most-watched original series on Netflix and garnering an impressive 12 Emmy nominations, ‘Wednesday’ was renewed for a second season in January 2023.
Production, delayed due to Hollywood strikes, finally kicked off in Ireland on May 8th. Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar reunite with director Tim Burton to film the first episode of the second season, aptly titled ‘Here We Woe Again.’
To mark the beginning of production, a video teaser was released on the official accounts, along with a clip revealing some exciting casting news.
What’s the Release Date for ‘Wednesday’ Season 2?
No official release date has been announced yet. However, fans can look forward to the expansion of the Addams Family universe with an Uncle Fester spin-off featuring Fred Armisen, which is already in development.
What’s New This Season?
In addition to familiar faces, there are some electrifying new casting announcements. Christopher Lloyd, who famously portrayed Fester Addams in the live-action films of the ’90s, will make a cameo appearance, much like Christina Ricci did in season one. Joanna Lumley joins the cast as Grandmamma Addams, bringing even more kooky charm to the family.
Expect spectacular performances from Billie Piper, Thandiwe Newton, and Steve Buscemi, who is rumored to play the new headmaster of Nevermore Academy. Heather Matarazzo, who starred in ‘Scream’ (2022) alongside Jenna Ortega, also joins the ensemble. This season promises a stronger emphasis on horror, giving us more spine-tingling thrills and less teen romance.
